Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Intellara Labs (“we”) collects when you use FreeUpMac or freeupmac.com. It is written for customers in the UK, EU, US, Canada, Australia, and elsewhere. Disk scans never leave your Mac.

Who is responsible

The data controller is Intellara Labs, the publisher of FreeUpMac. Contact: hello@freeupmac.com.

What stays on your Mac

The app reads folders on your computer to draw the map. Scan results, paths, file names, Trash / Bin operations, and the pasted license key stay in local storage on that Mac. We cannot see your disk from the website.

What we process on the website

Checkout email and payment confirmation. If you buy Pro, Dodo Payments processes the card charge. We receive enough information to confirm a paid order and email a license key — typically your email address and a payment identifier. We do not receive your full card number.
License recovery. If you use /recover, we look up completed Pro purchases for that email and send the key if one exists.
Support email. Messages you send to hello@freeupmac.com are kept long enough to answer you and handle refunds.
Affiliate cookie. If you arrive with a ?ref= link, we set a first-party cookie named fum_ref for 90 days so a later Pro purchase can be attributed to that affiliate. If they then start a DMG download, we add one to that affiliate’s download count. We store the number, not the downloader’s email. It is not an advertising tracker.
Affiliate account. If you sign up at /affiliates, we keep your email, channel URL, password hash, and referral code so you can log in to a dashboard, share a link, and get paid. The dashboard also shows how many DMG downloads were attributed to your link. After signup you can add a Wise or PayPal handle there.
Google Analytics. If you tap Accept on the cookie bar, we load Google Analytics 4 (Firebase Analytics for this site) to see page views, referrers, download clicks, checkout starts, and completed purchases (payment reference and price, never your license key or email). The Mac app never sends scan data here. Decline leaves the tag unloaded. Change your mind from Analytics cookies in the footer.

Google Analytics cookies

After you accept, Google may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_* on freeupmac.com. Those cookies typically last up to two years. If you arrived from a Google ad, the same consent lets Google Ads count whether that visit led to a download or purchase, which may add cookies such as _gcl_au. We do not use this for remarketing lists, and we do not run Meta Pixel or similar advertising tags.

Processors

Dodo Payments — payment processing and receipts.
Resend — transactional license emails, when configured.
Vercel — hosting for freeupmac.com. Server logs may include IP address and user agent for security and debugging, typically for a short period.
Google LLC — Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics 4, only if you accept analytics cookies. Google may process data in the United States. See Google’s privacy policy.

Lawful bases (UK GDPR / EU GDPR)

Contract — creating checkout, issuing a license key, and restoring a key you already paid for.
Consent — Google Analytics, via the Accept / Decline bar. You can withdraw it at any time from the footer.
Legitimate interests — answering support, detecting abuse, attributing an affiliate sale via the first-party fum_ref cookie, and counting referral downloads.
Legal obligation — tax and accounting records for paid orders.

You can refuse the affiliate cookie by not following a referral link, or by blocking cookies for freeupmac.com in your browser. You can refuse Analytics by tapping Decline. The Mac app does not depend on either cookie.

How long we keep data

Purchase records are kept as long as needed to honor the license, process a 15-day refund, and meet bookkeeping rules. Support threads are kept only as long as they are useful. Scan contents are never uploaded, so there is nothing to delete on our servers for a disk map.

Your rights

If UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies to you, you can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of personal data we hold, and you can object to legitimate-interest processing. Email hello@freeupmac.com. You may also complain to your local supervisory authority (for example the ICO in the UK).

California residents can request a record of personal information we collected about them and ask us to delete it. We do not sell personal information.

International transfers

Our hosts and payment processor may store data in the United States or other countries. If we transfer personal data out of the UK or EEA, we rely on the processor’s appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).

Children

FreeUpMac is a utility for people who manage their own Mac. It is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

We will update this page if the product starts collecting new categories of data. The date at the top is the latest revision.
